School is back in session, but the education provided at The Pub on Saturday night was anything but ordinary. BurlyQ 101, a scholastic-themed evening of burlesque performances, titillated the crowd with fan dances, bawdy humor, leather and lace.

Confessions of a 70's Stripper

Judith Stein is a stripper, and proud of it. She began stripping in the 1970s, performing in burlesque shows across North America. Last Sunday afternoon she gave a short lecture on her experiences as a performer. As soon as she entered the room, it was clear that she came prepared with plenty of sass,  a beret perched jauntily on her bleached blonde hair.

The lecture was part of the first annual Freezing Tassel Burlesque Festival, an official Fur Rondy event hosted by VivaVoom Brr-lesque.

Our goal is to empower troupe members and attendees of all genders, colors, sizes, shapes, ages, abilities, and walks of life to escape imposed societal values about beauty and body. We believe that EVERY body is beautiful and desire to create art and entertainment which demonstrates that belief. We honor our history and our art form with every performance, and we strive to inspire our patrons to be creative at home.
